Weekend weather in Greater Manchester as glorious sunshine comes to an abrupt end

It’s been a scorching week in Greater Manchester as we’ve been treated to our first heatwave since 2024.

With beer gardens overflowing and parks packed to the brim, you could be forgiven for thinking summer has come early this year. But while these cooling temperatures will continue into the weekend, we’ll see an abrupt end to the sunshine.

If you’re hoping to make the most of the weather, Saturday (May 11) is the day to put on the sunscreen and get outside, as the weather is set to take a sudden turn over the next few days.

Saturday will start warm and bright with temperatures of 18C by 9am. These will continue to rise throughout the day, reaching a high of 23C by 2pm.

There will be some cloud, but the day will be mostly bright, dry and very warm, with temperatures lingering around 19C until 10pm. It looks like a cloudy but very warm night in the region.


Sunday will start cloudy but warm. We should see some sunshine in the morning with highs of 18C by 9am.
