“I was shocked… you don’t expect to see Jack Black walking the streets of Manchester at 9am”

A firefighter snapped a selfie with Hollywood film star Jack Black after spotting him casually strolling the streets of Manchester on Wednesday morning (May 8).

The alistair and musician, who is part of the rock duo Tenacious D with Kyle Gass, was already in town for the two highly anticipated shows at the AO Arena on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

After being dropped off along Gartside Street, firefighter Calum Beckett, who grew up watching Black in his hit film School of Rock, spotted the star walking by with his headphones on.

He wasted no time approaching the 54-year-old movie star and asking for a quick selfie with him to show off his children. Posting the pic on X, ex-Twitter, he wrote: “Casually bumping into @jackblack this morning in Manchester! What a legend.”

Talking to Manchester Evening News, Calum said: “I got a lift into town and had just stopped when I looked to my left and saw a man who I thought looked the spitting image of Jack Black. I thought, “he really walks like him.”

“I decided to go behind him and then I decided I was going to ask if it was really him, so I walked up to him and he looked back at me. I looked at him and said “Jack? and he nodded and shook my hand.

“He didn’t say a word – it was cool how you like it with the headphones on. The next minute, while I was taking my selfie, other people started recognizing him.
