A Spain holiday warning has been issued for UK tourists over the sudden and shocking rise in the cost of holidays and flights. Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2 and Wizz Air passengers opting for a cheaper holiday have been warned of skyrocketing prices.

Research has suggested that the average price of a flight to Spain has been close to £200 as Britons prepare to travel to the country this summer. British tourists are seeing a significant increase of over 30% on low-cost flights to Spanish territory, including the Canary Islands.

The figures were found by Mabrian Technologies, which warned that price increases were more pronounced for low-cost carriers such as Ryanair, easyJet and This marks a change in the global trend compared to the period between 2021 and 2023, when prices for conventional airlines increased by 40%, compared to just 6% for low-cost carriers, which drove the overall increase in fares.

The research found that, on average, the price of a ticket from the UK to Spain rose by 31.3% to an average of £180.22 (€210). Speaking to the Canarian Weekly about the research, Mabrian Marketing and Communications Director Carlos Cendra said: “The price increase we are witnessing reflects, on the one hand, the increasing operational costs of the airlines and, on the other hand, the growing demand to and from Spain. for this summer season.”

The data corresponds to the annual change in the price of flights to Spain between June 1 and September 15, 2024, from the five main markets: the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France and the Netherlands, reports BirminghamLive.

Prices rose by 26% in the five countries. Low-cost fares to Spain fell in only two of them compared to 2023: Italy (-5.4% with an average price of €105) and France (-6.8%, average price: €124), the research, published before the summer getaway season, found.
