Hollyoaks star Anna Passey reveals Sienna’s huge shock over Patrick’s twin

Hollyoaks spoilers ahead.

Hollyoaks star Anna Passey has spoken for the first time about Jeremy Sheffield’s shock return to telly.

Show bosses stunned fans last week with the big announcement that Jeremy was returning to the Channel 4 soap as a new character.

Jeremy played the memorable villain Patrick Blake from late 2012 until early 2016, when the evil character was killed off.

In a surprise twist, Jeremy will now play Patrick’s secret twin, Jez.

Anna’s character, Sienna Blake, can’t believe her eyes when she first comes face to face with Jez, which unsurprisingly brings back memories of her twisted father Patrick.

Speaking exclusively to The digital spy of Sienna’s reaction, Anna teased: “How would you react if you saw your dead dad come back to life? Sienna sees Jez in a hospital bed and I think she’s very shocked.

“He can’t quite work out what’s going on, but he knows there has to be some kind of rational explanation for it.

“When Sienna hears that Jez is Patrick’s twin, she’s just devastated. How has he never heard of this before?”

She continued: “I was delighted when I found out this was happening. It’s actually something we talked about all those years ago when Jeremy left the show. We talked about him possibly coming back as a twin.

“Now that it’s a reality, I couldn’t be happier. Jeremy is my most favorite person in the world, so to work with him again is just glorious.

“Jeremy was such a strong character as Patrick Blake, so it can be hard to think of him now as the Jeremy character. Jez is a lot more like my real-life friend Jeremy, so sometimes we forget we’re working! It’s a strange adjustment.

“Also, it’s really weird that Jeremy is now playing Jeremy on the show because as soon as I say it, my brain self-corrects and thinks I’ve made a mistake! But other than that, we get along!”

Hollyoaks also announced the casting of former Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Benidorm and Loose Women star Sherrie Hewson as Martha, who is Jez’s mother and Sienna’s grandmother.

Anna added: “Could you ask for a better grandma? Sherrie is a legend and we love her. I think he fits right into the Blake dynasty.

“Sienna doesn’t really like Martha, though. I think she’s suspicious from the start, and rightly so. She doesn’t trust Martha as much as she’s been able to let on, and that doesn’t change all that much throughout!”

Hollyoaks stream online first via Channel 4 every working day at 19.30. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before premiering on YouTube a week after that.
