McDonald’s launches the first Happy Meal of its kind in the UK

McDonald’s has announced a new Happy Meal coming to the UK, which is the first of its kind. Bosses at the fast food chain have confirmed that the new themed product will be available in restaurants across the country from today (Wednesday, May 8), according to the LiverpoolEcho.

McDonald’s is known for its staples like the Big Mac, but they have a rotating menu of year-round favorites. Last month, the chain revealed it was bringing back the Chicken Big Mac, Cheese & Herb Melts, as well as the new Lotus Biscoff Frappe.

Now it’s announced a new, first-of-its-kind Happy Meal that celebrates all things anime. The new change will see the children’s table with Yu-Gi-Oh! X Hello Kitty and Friends plush toys.

Starting Wednesday, May 8, every Happy Meal will come with one of ten Yu-Gi-Oh! X Hello Kitty and Friends plush toys. The range will be included in children’s meals until Tuesday 18 June.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “In a year of celebrations with not one, but three anniversaries (Hello Kitty and McDonald’s UK celebrating their 50th anniversary, while Yu-Gi-Oh! is the 25th anniversary of The Card Game), what better way to mark the occasion than with an exciting anime takeover.

“Never before have these two anime worlds collided, so whether it’s your first experience with a franchise or you’re an avid fan, don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to enjoy this anime special with Happy Meal. “

Alternatively, customers will have the option to opt for a book instead of a toy. Happy Meal buyers will be able to choose between one of two Little People Big Dreams books: “I Can Be an Awesome Performer” or “I Can Be a Curious Scientist.”
