Leeds United youth goalkeeper Darryl Ombang has committed his future to the club by signing a two-year extension to his current contract.

As we head into the summer, there are various loose ends that need to be tied up with contracts expiring very soon.

Making the playoffs might be the first thing on the club’s mind right now, but the 49ers have something to take care of regardless.

Darryl Ombang signs new contract with Leeds

Wednesday afternoon brought confirmation from the club that young goalkeeper Darryl Ombang has penned a new deal at Elland Road:

This new deal keeps Ombang tied down until the summer of 2026, a two-year extension to his previous deal which is due to expire in the summer.

Who will win the playoffs?

The 18-year-old joined Leeds from nearby club Bradford City in 2021 and spent a short spell this season on loan at Ossett United.

Ombang has played for both the U18s and U21s this season, having also represented England at U17 level previously.

Another solid hold from Leeds with Ombang

Goalkeeping hasn’t really been a position where Leeds have produced their own talent for some time, so it would be good to have some promising young players coming in goal.

With Ombang, Rory Mahady, Dani van den Heuvel and others, we have several hoping to make their way into the senior fold at some point soon.

Let’s hope we see more of Ombang at U21 level next season as the club rate him highly.
