Rio Ferdinand adds fuel to Jamie Vardy’s Wrexham transfer speculation

Rio Ferdinand wants to see Jamie Vardy have another crack at the Premier League with Leicester City. But the former Manchester United and England defender says that if Vardy is to leave the King Power Stadium this summer, he would like to see him join Wrexham.

Vardy’s contract with the Foxes expires this summer and manager Enzo Maresca has already suggested the striker will be offered a new deal after firing the club to the Championship title and back to the Premier League this season. Vardy has also made it clear that he has no intention of retiring.

Speaking to Vibe with FIVE, Ferdinand said: “He needs to play one more season in the Premier League. I want to see him get some Premier League goals, that’s nice. The only club I want him to go to if he leaves is Wrexham.”

“He’s got that Hollywood feel and he’s had a bit of a Hollywood career,” he added, with Vardy rising from non-league football to the top.

“There’s nothing to say that Jamie Vardy wouldn’t be a great player at Wrexham,” Ker told SPORTbible. “It’s not a name we’ve mentioned before inside the building, but the age and profile wouldn’t let us down.”
