The moment the pensioner collides with the reversing car, caught on camera

A pensioner was knocked over after she collided with a reversing car while walking on the road, but some claimed she was to blame. A white Nissan Qashqai was seen apparently reversing down a residential street before colliding with a woman who was in the road.

The elderly lady was walking down the road, braving any oncoming traffic. But the reversing SUV came up behind her and appeared to knock her to the ground. Fortunately, she was unhurt and sat down on the Tarmac as a pair of passers-by rushed to her aid.

The driver gently moved the car forward and two women got out of the Qashqai, first one from the passenger side, then the driver. The moment was captured on a 25-second video from a CCTV camera in a neighboring house just before 12.30am on Sunday in London.

The four people checked that the woman was okay and helped her up when the clip ended. But locals were divided over who was to blame.

One said: “One way road so not sure why the driver is backing up. But what the hell is the person doing walking on the road, it’s a sidewalk.”

Another added: “It’s her fault, what is she doing walking in the middle of the road?” A third said: “No way drivers are blaming the pedestrian.”
