The ‘stunning’ riverside restaurant La Vague in Gunthorpe is for sale

A ‘highly respected’ restaurant inspired by Italy’s breathtaking scenery is up for sale. La Vague offers traditional Italian cuisine and serves breakfast, lunch, coffee and cakes.

Overlooking the River Trent in Gunthorpe, the business was established in 2006 and has been in the hands of Anouar Zouaghi since 2020. He changed the name from Biondi Bistro and refurbished the property, investing in state-of-the-art equipment along with designer furniture that they are all included in the sale price of £194,995.

It is “a huge advantage for any new buyer as the additional funds will not be spent for a period of time”, according to agent Vertitas Business Sales. Mr Zouaghi is selling the restaurant, in Trentside, due to other business interests requiring his attention.

The restaurant has one full-time and four part-time employees. The menu includes starters of shrimp gamberoni and calamari and mains such as pasta, risotto, steak, fish, burgers and pizza. It is also licensed, selling wines, beers and spirits.

Recent reviews for the restaurant include “Always met with a smile and delicious food” and “This is my favorite place to eat and relax. I only wish we had better summer days to enjoy this amazing restaurant at Gunthorpe Lock”.

The agent said that trade could be increased by opening in the evening. La Vague currently closes at 6pm. “The business enjoys a strong reputation within the local community and beyond and as such has a high level of regular and repeat trade.

“We believe there is an additional opportunity to increase trade by simply opening the restaurant in the evening and trading seven days a week. You could also host more parties and private events such as birthdays, anniversaries and small weddings that would take advantage of the huge amount of space and scenic views. This is a superb opportunity to acquire an established business at a reasonable price.”
