Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are pleased to launch an 8 week Touch Rugby League competition at Robin Park Arena.

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation welcomes over 100 participants each week to our FREE community touch sessions and we are delighted to be running and hosting the Spring Community Touch League, an eight week program with teams competing in a co-ed league each Friday night.

No experience is necessary to attend our sessions or get involved in the Spring League. In one of our most inclusive offerings, teams will be mixed by age, gender and ability throughout the eight-week program.

The over 14 sessions take place at St John Rigby College on Monday evenings 19:00-21:00 and at Robin Park Arena on Friday evenings with two sessions – 17:00-18:15 for the U14s and 18:15-20: 00 for those over 14 years old. The team will then compete in the league on a Friday night at Robin Park Arena. Please note that all sessions take place on 3G pitches, please wear appropriate footwear.

How to get involved

Our Community Touch Rugby sessions are FREE to attend. To take part in the Spring League there is an entry cost of £100 per team (covers all eight weeks) or £10 per person if you are not in a pre-assembled team.

Kev Hattersley said: “With the hunger for competitive games amongst the Touch Rugby community, Wigan Warriors Community Foundation set up the Spring Community Touch Mini League to encourage and engage community clubs. The eight-week league kicks off tonight with six of the four teams coming from the Community Foundation free program.”

Rugby League Development Manager John Whalley added: “The Spring Community Touch League is a fantastic concept and is a very inclusive offering. Touching is one of the few sports where the whole family can get involved, regardless of gender, age or ability.

“Wigan Warriors Community Foundation is looking forward to running the eight-week program and engaging with the wider community.”
