Liam Gallagher reveals Leeds United’s desire for Championship play-off final with Southampton

Music icon Liam Gallagher has opened up about his soft spot for Leeds United, saying he hopes Daniel Farke’s side come out on top in this season’s Championship play-off final.

Leeds booked their place in the clash at Wembley Stadium with one of their best performances of the campaign so far. After a scoreless first leg, goals from Ilia Gruev, Joel Piroe, Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville secured a crushing victory in the next meeting with Norwich City.

Then it was a similar story on the south coast as the whites learned who their opponents would be. Southampton drew 0-0 with West Brom for the first time but rallied to win 3-1 at St. Mary, which means the final is well set between the third and fourth placed teams in the championship.

Predictions and support for either team will no doubt fly over the next eight days, but one who has made sure to get in early is award-winning musician Gallagher. Responding to a Leeds supporter on X, he emphasized his desire to see them back in the Premier League next year:

A notorious Manchester City supporter, he will no doubt have his eyes on his own club picking up silverware over the next seven days. The race for the top-flight title will be decided on the final day of the season when Pep Guardiola’s side host West Ham United, then take on cross-town rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final a day before the play-off final. .

That means if Gallagher is to be at Wembley next weekend, it will most likely be on Saturday. Even if he’s supporting from afar, at least Farke and his men can look forward to the club’s 35,000 faithful supporters roaring the team on from the east stand of the national team stadium.
