BBC Saturday Kitchen viewers ‘not impressed’ warn to ‘boycott’

BBC Saturday Kitchen viewers said they were “not impressed” and called off a row over Matt Tebbutt’s replacement. TV host and chef Donal Skehan took over the presentation in Matt’s absence and was joined in the studio by Olly Smith, Sabrina Ghayour, Jack Stein and Eddie Izzard.

Donal presented the BBC’s latest live episode of the cooking-themed talk show and welcomed the celebrity guests. But taking to Twitter/X, fans were less than thrilled by the TV star’s introduction, with one writing: ‘If @matt_tebbutt is replaced for good I’m boycotting this show. #SaturdayKitchen”

“I’m not impressed with Donal. Apparently Eddie isn’t impressed with him either. Sabrina the cook is giving us a cooking lesson. Donal wants to stop talking. Jack Stein is sneaky and got a nice check just for doing a basic salad,” said another.

“Friggin bloody Donal can’t know a word in #SaturdayKitchen,” said another. Another said: “Donal……breathe. My ears are bleeding #saturdaykitchen” Another said: “Where is insufferable Matt today, too hungover and still in bed? He only has one job once a week, middle class problems eh”

“Everyone needs to put BBC1 on now. This woman invented this bread, salad and chicken thing. It’s going to change the world. I’m telling you!! #saturdaykitchen,” commented another. The episode synopsis from RadioTimes did not mention Matt’s absence.

Instead, it read: “Matt Tebbutt is joined by chefs Jack Stein and Sabrina Ghayour, as well as special guest Eddie Izzard. Olly Smith chooses the drinks to accompany the dishes in the studio”. Taking to social media, another spoke as Dave Myers and Si King appeared on a TV.

Discussing the late Dave, they wrote: “So lovely to see a video of Dave Myers of #HairyBikers fame on #SaturdayKitchen. Unfortunately missed. I’d love to see Si King get his own show – how about exploring the UK on a motorbike? sidecar combo with a different celebrity passenger each week cooking up local food?
