Arrest, investigation continues in Enfield shooting incident: PD

ENFIELD, CT — An investigation into shots fired early Sunday morning has led to the arrest of a Bloomfield man on firearms and other criminal charges.

Around 5:38 a.m., police were dispatched to Lincoln Street at Alden Avenue on a report of shots fired. Four people, including three men, were detained pending an investigation that revealed a man known to the victim entered a home in the area and later exchanged gunfire with the residents, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

No injuries were reported.

Zachary Clothakis, 28, was charged with criminal attempt to commit first degree assault, carrying a handgun without a permit, first degree reckless endangerment, criminal use of a weapon, unlawful discharge of a firearm fire and second-degree breach of peace. Bond was set at $250,000.

The Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crimes Unit responded to assist in collecting evidence and serving the applicable search warrants. The case remains under investigation and additional arrests are anticipated, Fox said.
