Serious crash on the M6 ​​near Coventry prompts huge 999 response

Two men have been ‘seriously injured’ after a car and lorry crash on the M6 ​​near Coventry. 999 calls were made to report the collision on the southbound carriageway of the M6 ​​between junctions 2 and 1 in the early hours of this morning (May 13).

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) confirmed to CoventryLive that it sent an ambulance, a paramedic and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance critical care vehicle to the scene. They were dispatched just before 12.30pm.

They were assisted by an ambulance from East Midlands Ambulance Service, which was passing the crash scene at the time. “An ambulance crew from East Midlands Ambulance Service also stopped to provide assistance,” a WMAS spokesman said.

“We treated one patient, a man in the car, for potentially serious injuries before he was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. The EMAS team also transported a patient to the hospital.”
