Welcome to Some Assembly Required second annual Christmas show. What you will see on stage tonight is unscripted improvised comedy, scenes and games. With the mix of suggestions and information you provided to us when you arrived, some games we like to play and a few seconds of discussion we hope to provide you with an evening of laughter. Members of SAR will each take a turn at explaining games to you and introducing the improvisers who will play them. Scripts Intro by DAN G Call first two actors on stage Sometimes called, Half scripted scene, or Actors Nightmare. In this scene one actor will read all his or her lines from a script, while the other actor must justify those lines and a scene will arise from this chaos. I would like someone to choose a script from this pile.............thank you (give script to the reader) and now someone please choose a page number. Pre show you need to ask audience members for these things. Write them in and then cut up the slips for use in these scenes Call up those in the scene In this scene we will ask a player to leave the stage. The player offstage has committed a crime. However he or she cannot remember what the crime is. If her interrogators can let her know what the crime is she will confess. When the criminal is close to getting the crime you or the accomplice -you the audience, must ooh-aah to let her know. When he or she gets a part of the crime or close to the accomplice clap. If she confesses or identifies his or her accomplice to the crime completely go wild. (Ask criminal to leave) Earlier we got a list of unusual crimes and famous people or characters for accomplices, from audience members. Can I please ask you to select on of these, and one of these (have them choose from the crimes and accomplices slips) for our criminal. Pre show you need to ask audience members for these things. Write them in and then cut up the slips for use in these scenes In this scene Hidden Agenda, also called Hidden Intentions, two improvisers each have an intention or agenda unknown to the other improviser. Throughout the scene they perform each improviser tries to figure out what the other wants and gives it to them but they cannot come out and ask for it. Earlier we got some "intentions" from you, each improviser will draw one of these. So lets have Mike leave while Sheila gets her intention. (have Shelia it read to audience). Now Shelia you leave and send Mike in so we can give him his intention. (have Mike read his to audience). Mike please bring Sheila back. Our fearless coach, who abandoned us tonight, reads a lot of trashy papers. So she cut out headlines from those papers put them in these envelopes and told us to have an audience member choose one, open it and read it to us and then said Dan G, Chris and Shelia had to do a scene based on that headline. (have someone choose and read, then take it from them and read it out again) 1 Dan S 2 Mike 3 Julia Mundane (Unusual) Sporting Event with Commentary Intro by CHRIS Instructions for before the show: You are responsible for the sheet that says Mundane Activity. Pre show you need to ask audience members for these things. Write them in and then cut up the slips for use in these scenes Unusual sporting events are cropping up all over but ours really are different. We take some of your life's most mundane activities and add the excitement of sport and competition through, play by play and colour commentary. So with the selection of one of your suggestions (pull out a suggestion) made earlier the sport of ______________, will be on the field with our commentator Dan G, our colour commentator, Dan S and our sports celebrities Shelia and Mike. 1 (commentator) Dan G 2 (colour commentator) Dan S 3 Mike 4 Sheila _____________________________________________________ # of Words Intro by Mike Number of Words also called Counting Words or the Numbers game will be improvised by Julia, Dan G and Chris. Each of the players in this game will be assigned a number between 1 and 10. Each sentence that the player speaks must contain that given number of words. Can I ask you to please pick one of these Popsicle sticks for _________ and tell them the number written on it, this will be that improvisers number of words. (etc repeat for each improviser.) Pre show you need to ask audience members for these things. Write them in and then cut up the slips for use in these scenes Entrances and Exits also known as ,The Word Game or Revolving Door will be played by Sheila, Dan S and Mike In this game each player is assigned a word that might come up in casual conversation. Whenever that word is spoken by another player in the scene they must enter or exit. If the player's word is spoken and he or she is offstage, he or she must immediately come on-stage and justify his or her entrance. If his or her word is spoken while on-stage he or she must immediately exit and justify his or her exit. Earlier we got nouns and verbs from you, each improviser will draw one of your words as their Entrance Exit word. (have each take a word) Improvisers please tell the audience your word.
