Introduction ========= - The concensus is that we could make a better entrance or 'dress it up' a bit (instead of just walking on and DanG makes the conventional introduction speech). - Some ideas include playing some music while we 'charge on' stage (i.e. higher energy). Another suggestion is that we find a clever way of introducing ourselves. - Perhaps the talk that DanG gives should be given at the end of the show and we should get just into the first improv scene. 1. Monarch (Sheila plus all) ==================== - Run time: 9 minutes. - Consensus was that it went surprisingly well (i.e. since it was the first time, we didn't know what to expect) and is perhaps a good game to start the night. - One surprise is that Monarch seems to move faster when viewing on tape than it seems when we're on stage. - Volume is still a bit low at times. - There was no one who did a quick entrance and dismissal (perhaps Alan came close with the glasses). - We did wrap it up before it started to drag on. - Perhaps a bigger crown next time. 2. Sit-Stand-Bend Over (Chris, Dan S., Julia) ================================= - Run time: 2 minutes. - Audience got into it and seemed to enjoy it. - Good advancing and no one really got stuck as the 'bent over' person. 3. Entrance/Exit (Alan, Martin, Dan G) ============================ - Run time:5 minutes. - Good strong characters, good offers - scene did move forward. - Several missed words - our listening skills was lacking!! - Need to do a better job of justifying our exits - Audience never called out like in Sit-Stand-Bend, perhaps the introducer needs to remind audience to call out. 4. Scene Replay - Emotions (Sheila, Chris, Dan G) ===================================== - Run time: 6 minutes. - Didn't rush it like in practices - Good characters - We didn't really hit jealousy accurately, - We need to devote some time on Thursdays to practice our emotions (i.e. brainstorm) - Volume was low - Scene Replay with Styles seems easier than with emotions 5. Word Associations (All) =================== - Run time: unknown (Alan or DanG?) - This went rather well (although does not look as good on tape as it did when we were on stage, that's just my comment - Martin). - DanG boomed out each word very clearly - We didn't go to the very front of the stage on every word - Leslie suggested the following: once the players do their thing in the middle, they move to the side and rotate back, so in other words, you come up the middle and do your thing and leave through the sides - Good pacing and momentum - Next time we should use a flip chart or a big cardboard sign so the audience can actually see the words 6. Switch (All) ========== - Run time: unknown (Alan or DanG?) - Bravo! We took a risk and it went ok under the circumstances (on stage or on tape). The consensus is that this is a great game to work on over the next little while because we'll learn so much in the process (listening, characterization, focus, advancing).. - Needed a bit stronger characters from the beginning (recall the characters were an immature student, an anal(?) teacher and burned-out cafeteria lady). - In huddle, did use adjectives in front of character (is that right?) - Biggest problem was that there was no objective (the "O" in CROW) in the huddle, we need to include this... - There seemed to be one minor mix up with the rotation of players into the scene - Unsure of the crowd reaction to this one - Environment disappeared (cafeteria) during the scene 7. Scene Replay - Styles (Dan S., Martin, Alan) =================================== - Run time: 5 minutes - This worked quite well and was well received by the audience - Strong characters, good advancement - Styles seems easier to pull off than emotions - Like emotions, we need to spend some time on Thursdays going over styles (even add more to the list) 8. Hidden Agenda #1 (Chris, Dan S.) ============================ - Run time: 5 minutes - Very funny game, audience really got into it. 9. Hidden Agenda #2 (Julia, Alan) ========================= - Run time: 4 minutes - Went well 10. Movie Review #1 (DanG., Julia, Dan S., Sheila) ====================================== - Run time: 4+ minutes - Move title: It's a Wonderful Lasagna - Probably the most popular scene of the night (live and on tape) - Good pacing, scene didn't drag on too much - James Stewart went over big!! - Some offers missed - Perhaps a player not in the scene should do the introduction 11. Movie Review #2 (Alan, Martin, Chris, Leslie) ==================================== - Run time: unknown (DanG?) - Movie title: Guess Who's coming to Grieve - Alan's tape ran out so we couldn't see it fully ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Movie titles (for Movie Review) ------------- It's a ______________ Life The Wizard of _______ Dead ____________ Society To ________ With Love 6) Chariots of ____________ 8) _________ of Endearment 9) __________ of the Iguana 11) The Usual ___________ 12) Beauty and the ___________ The ________ Strikes Back The Good, the Bad and the ________ The Man With the Golden ________ (Bond Film) Miracle on ___________ Gone With The ________ Styles (for Scene Replay) ------------------------- Children's Show Infomercial Horror Gangster Soap Opera Western Cook Book Detective Fairy Tale Love Story Whodunit Science Fiction Slapstick Evening News (Headline News) Shakespearean
